Notifications
A message that lands on the customer's card
No SMS, no email to open. On iPhone, the message shows on the lock screen with your business's logo, then stays readable on the card.
When
Four moments when the card alerts the customer
After a visit to the till
As soon as the staff member credits points, the card updates and a notification confirms the visit. You write these messages yourself, up to ten variants that rotate so as not to bore. When a reward is used, the card confirms that too.
When you write
From the Campaigns tab, you write a short message and choose who receives it: all your customers, or a segment with the Pro plan. Something new, an exceptional closure, the offer of the week.
At the planned moment
Automatic messages go out by themselves: a few days before the customer's birthday, or shortly before a voucher expires.
Near your shop
You enter your addresses, and the card can appear on the lock screen when the customer is nearby, with the text you have chosen. The iPhone decides when, according to Apple's rules.
On screen
What the customer sees
The notification carries your business's name and your logo as a thumbnail. It arrives on a screen the customer looks at often, with no app to open and without going through an inbox.
The message is also written on the card: a customer who swiped the notification away finds it again by opening Wallet. For the thumbnail to stay readable at that size, a simple, square and sharp logo works better than a photo.
The customer stays in control. They can turn off the card's notifications in their iPhone settings, or remove the card from their Wallet.
Location
Several addresses, and the ten-place limit
Apple limits to ten the number of places a card can watch. In the Shops tab, you choose for each address whether it brings up the card, up to ten, and the message shown nearby. All your addresses stay listed on the back of the card.
It is the customer's phone that detects proximity: AnkorCard neither asks for nor keeps their location. The distance at which the card appears is decided by Apple Wallet and depends on the phone's settings.
Managing several shops is detailed on the several locations page.
Volume
How many notifications you can send
| Type of send | Essentiel | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Notification after a visit to the till | Not counted | Not counted |
| Campaigns you write | 3 per month | Unlimited |
The campaign counter resets every calendar month, and your account shows where you stand before each send. Automatic messages have their own counter: they never use up your campaigns. Full pricing is on the pricing page.
Android
And for Google Wallet customers?
The notifications described on this page go through Apple Wallet. The Google Wallet card does not receive messages today: your Android customers keep their card, their QR code and their rewards, but not the alert on the lock screen. The details are on the Google Wallet loyalty card page.
Good practice
Writing without wearing people out
- Two to four messages a month are enough, as long as each one says something.
- A concrete reason to come is better than a simple hello: an offer, a product of the day, opening hours.
- A short message can be read in full on the lock screen.
- A message with no content is the surest way to get the card deleted.
Questions about notifications
Where exactly does the message arrive?
On the phone's lock screen, as a notification with your logo as the thumbnail, and on the card itself when the customer opens it. It arrives neither in an inbox nor by SMS: it is your card that speaks, which explains the read rate.
How many messages can I send per month?
The Essentiel plan includes 3 per month; the Pro plan does not limit the number. The counter resets each calendar month, and your account shows you where you stand before each send.
I have more than ten shops: what happens?
Apple limits to ten the number of places a card can watch. In the Shops tab, you choose the ten addresses that make the card appear nearby. Your other shops remain visible on the back of the card.
Do you send SMS or emails to my customers?
Campaigns go through the Wallet card, not by SMS. The emails sent to your customers are those of the sign-up journey: welcome, address verification, resending a lost card. They carry your colours and logo, and can be sent from your own domain if you have one.
