QR code
A unique QR code for each customer
The customer shows their card, the staff member scans it with the till's phone or tablet, and the customer's profile opens. No name to look up, no reader to buy.

What it is for
Two QR codes, two uses
People often mix them up. One brings a customer into your programme, the other recognises them on every visit.
The sign-up QR code
A single one for the whole business. You print it and place it where the customer waits: counter, table tent, shop window, receipt. By scanning it, the customer opens the sign-up form and adds their card to their Wallet.
The card's QR code
One per customer, printed on their card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. It is the one your staff member scans at the till to find the customer's profile, credit their points or confirm a reward.
Creation
How the code is generated
You have nothing to do. The card's QR code is created when the customer signs up, at the same time as their card, and stays attached to them: a customer who changes phones and reinstalls their card gets the same code and the same balance.
Each code belongs to one card. Two customers never share a code, and neither do two businesses: a card issued for your shop opens nothing in another business's scanner.
At the till
How a staff member scans the card
Open the scanner
A web page, added to the home screen of the till's phone or tablet.
Point at the card
The camera reads the card's code, on the customer's phone or watch.
The profile appears at once: customer name, balance, current vouchers. All that is left is to choose the action. The equipment comes down to a device with a camera and a browser; many businesses use a tablet set next to the till.
Points
Adding and removing points
Adding
- Stamp card: one button adds the stamp for the visit.
- Points per euro: the staff member enters the receipt amount, the points are calculated.
- During your off-peak hours, the multiplier you have set applies by itself.
Removing
- Reward: "Confirm the reward used" deducts the tier's points.
- Voucher: a "Confirm" button marks it as used, and it disappears from the card.
- Input error: the balance is corrected from the customer's profile, and the history keeps both operations.
The rules themselves, stamps, tiers and vouchers, are set in your account. Everything is detailed on the points and rewards page.
At the till
Why the QR code saves time
- No searching by name or phone number while the queue waits.
- No card to stamp, and no stamp to keep out of customers' reach.
- The customer shows their phone or watch, which they already have in hand to pay.
- The balance shows to the staff member, who can announce the next reward.
A customer forgot their phone? Their profile can be found by name or email in the Customers tab, and credited by hand.
Wallet
A code built into the Wallet card
The QR code is on the front of the card, below the balance. The customer has no email to find and no screenshot to take: they open Wallet, and the code is there. As the card is stored in the phone, it displays even without a network.
The code is the same whatever the phone. For the details specific to each platform, see the Apple Wallet loyalty card and the Google Wallet loyalty card.
Security
A code that identifies, without crediting anything
Photographing a customer's card does not let anyone add points to it. The code is used to recognise the card; crediting can only be done by a staff account signed in to your business's scanner.
- Each operation is recorded with the staff member who made it, the date and the time.
- A staff member who leaves the business loses access as soon as their account is deleted, including on devices already signed in.
- A card deleted at its holder's request can no longer be credited.
Questions about the QR code and the scanner
How do I stop a customer from crediting themselves?
The customer's QR code credits nothing: it identifies them. Only a staff account logged in to your business's scanner can add points, and each operation is recorded with the staff member who did it. So you can see, in the history, who credited what and when.
Can I credit a customer without scanning their card?
Yes. In the Clients tab, you look the person up by name or email and credit from their profile. That is what you need when a customer has forgotten their phone, calls you about an order, or when you catch up on a day without network.
What equipment do I need in my shop?
A phone or a tablet with a camera and a browser, that is all. Many businesses simply use an old tablet placed next to the till.
- No handheld scanner or barcode reader.
- No special terminal to rent or buy.
- No software to install, neither on the till nor on phones.
Does the scanner work without a connection?
No. Crediting a point updates a balance shared between your account, the customer's card and their phone: that requires a connection. If the network goes down, note the visits and credit them from the Clients tab when the network is back.
Where should I put the sign-up QR code?
Where the customer waits: on the counter, on a table tent, next to the card terminal, on the receipt, in the window. The same link also works in your Instagram bio, on your Google profile or in an email signature.
