Points and rewards
A loyalty programme on your terms
You choose what earns points, how many are needed and what they give. The customer's card shows their balance and the next tier, and your team credits in one gesture.

The rule
Three ways to earn points
The stamp card
Each visit is worth one stamp, whatever the amount. It is the rule the customer understands without explanation, and the one that rewards how often they come.
Points per euro
You set how many points one euro is worth. The staff member enters the receipt amount when crediting, and the points are rounded down to the nearest whole number. A big basket earns more than a small one.
Cashback
The customer gets back a share of their purchases in a kitty in euros, shown on their card. You choose the rate and the amount from which it can be used; at the till, your team deducts the sum of their choice, up to the balance.
Not sure? The guide points or stamps loyalty programme compares the two rules by type of business.
Tiers
Rewards the customer can see coming
A tier is written in two parts: a number of points, and what it gives. The label appears as is on the card, so it is better to make it concrete: "a free dessert" is clearer than "a surprise".
You can set as many tiers as you like. The card always shows the next one to reach and how far there is to go, which gives the customer a goal rather than a list.
When they reach it, the staff member scans their card and taps "Confirm the reward used". The points are deducted, the card updates, and the operation goes into the customer's history.
Example
Tiers of a points card
- 5 points
- A coffee
- 15 points
- A pastry
- 30 points
- A lunch menu
Example settings. You set the tiers and rewards yourself.
Vouchers
Reward or voucher: two different tools
A reward is a rule that applies to everyone. A voucher is something you give to a specific customer: a goodwill gesture, a compensation, a birthday present.
| Reward | Voucher | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A rule of the programme | A benefit given to one customer |
| How it comes | The balance reaches a tier | You issue it from the customer's profile |
| Duration | As long as the rule exists | Until the expiry date you choose |
| Where the customer sees it | On the front of their card | On the back of their card, while it is valid |
| At the till | "Confirm the reward used" | "Confirm" on the voucher, from the scanner |
An expiry date can be extended afterwards if you want to make a gesture. And an automatic message can warn the customer a few days before a voucher expires: see campaigns and automatic messages.
Going further
Customer levels and off-peak hours
Levels
You define a scale, for example Bronze from 50 points and Gold from 200. Each customer gets the level they have reached. Levels single out your best customers in the management area, and let you write to them alone.
Off-peak hours
You choose a time slot and a multiplier, for example double points between 2 pm and 5 pm. Credits made during the slot are multiplied automatically: the staff member has nothing to calculate.
How it works
What to know before launching
- Points do not expire: a balance stays earned as long as you do not change it.
- You can change programme after launch. Balances already earned are not recalculated; the new rule applies to the following visits.
- A mistake is corrected from the customer's profile. The history keeps the original operation and the correction.
- Points build up on a single card, in all your locations if you have several.
Questions about points and rewards
Stamps or points: which should I choose?
If in doubt, start with stamps: it is what your customers understand without explanation.
| Stamp card | Points per euro | |
|---|---|---|
| When to choose it | Regular basket, repeated purchase | Baskets that vary a lot from one customer to another |
| Example | A coffee, a haircut, a lunch menu | A shop, a beauty salon, a wine shop |
| What the customer understands | Immediately | After an explanation |
| What it rewards | How often they visit | How much they spend |
Can I give points as soon as someone signs up?
The welcome bonus exists on the platform, but it is not set from your account: there is no box that lets you turn it on yourself. The same effect is achieved by hand, straight away: you credit the first stamp right after sign-up, at the counter. That is in any case what most surely persuades a customer to sign up.
How does my customer use their reward?
They show their card as usual, your staff member scans it and confirms the reward from the scanner. The corresponding points are deducted, the card updates straight away, and the operation appears in the customer's history.
Can I change programme after launch?
Yes, from the Loyalty programme tab of your account. Balances already earned are not recalculated: they stay as they are and the new rule applies to the following visits. Warn your customers with a message before changing the tiers; it is the kind of surprise that gets noticed.
I credited too many points: can I correct it?
Yes, from the customer's profile in the Clients tab: you can adjust their balance by hand. The history keeps a record of the original operation and of the correction, which is intended: a history that can be rewritten is worth nothing the day there is a dispute at the counter.
