Bakery

A loyalty card that keeps up with the bakery's pace

At lunchtime and when offices close, the queue does not forgive a second too many. The AnkorCard card is credited while the customer pays, and replaces stamped cardboard cards without changing your habits at the counter.

The trade

Small baskets, high frequency

The evening baguette, the weekend loaf, the Sunday tart: a bakery sees its customers more often than almost any other business, for modest amounts. Loyalty there is about proximity and habit, and is quickly lost when another bakery opens on the way.

Many bakeries already have a cardboard stamp card. It works, but it says nothing about those who fill it, and it cannot tell anyone that the seasonal cakes are coming or that the shop closes in August.

The rule

Stamps per visit, or points for big orders?

Example

Per visit, for everyday customers

1 visit
1 stamp
10 stamps
A free pastry

Example settings. You set the tiers and rewards yourself.

Example

Per amount, if weekend orders matter

€1 spent
1 point
60 points
A free traditional baguette
150 points
A free individual cake

Example settings. You set the tiers and rewards yourself.

The stamp card is the fastest at the till: one scan, one button. Points per euro require entering the amount, but reward the customer who orders the cakes for a birthday. The guide points or stamps helps you choose.

Transition

Moving from cardboard to digital without forcing anything

  1. Keep the cardboard cards for a while

No cut-off date. Cards in progress stay valid while everyone moves to the digital card.

  2. Sign people up as they come

When a customer shows their cardboard card, you offer them the digital card: about thirty seconds, while paying.

  3. Carry over the stamps

You credit the stamps from their cardboard card to their new card, from their profile, and you take back the old one.

The transition ends by itself once all the regulars have switched. The guide paper or digital loyalty card details the method.

At the counter

A gesture that works at rush hour

  • The scanner opens on a tablet or phone near the till: no reader to plug in.
  • Each seller can have their own account, limited to the scanner and customer profiles.
  • The customer shows their phone while paying, without being asked their name.
  • An elderly customer without a smartphone can still be followed: their profile is credited by hand from the Customers tab.

Messages

Announce what comes out of the oven

A bakery has a calendar its customers like to follow: king cakes in January, Yule logs in December, summer holidays. A message on the card reaches the lock screen of iPhone customers, with no phone numbers to collect.

  • The arrival of a seasonal product.
  • The holiday closing dates, and the reopening date.
  • An end-of-day batch to sell off.

Questions from bakers

I have paper loyalty cards: how do I go digital?

Let the paper cards live on for a few more weeks: the transition finishes by itself once everyone has switched, with no cut-off date to announce to your customers.

  • At each visit, you sign the customer up on the spot, in about thirty seconds.
  • You carry their stamps over to their digital card from their profile.
  • You take back the paper card, or let them keep it while they get used to it.

Guide: paper or digital loyalty card

How do I add points at the till?

You open the scanner on your phone or tablet, aim at the QR code on the customer's card, and their balance appears. A button credits the visit; if your programme works on the amount spent, you enter the receipt. The whole gesture takes a few seconds.

Where should I put the sign-up QR code?

Where the customer waits: on the counter, on a table tent, next to the card terminal, on the receipt, in the window. The same link also works in your Instagram bio, on your Google profile or in an email signature.

What about my customers who do not have a smartphone?

The card requires a Wallet-compatible phone; there is no honest way around that. You can, however, keep following them: from the Clients tab, you find a profile by name or email and credit their points by hand, without scanning anything.

All the answers are in the frequently asked questions about the digital loyalty card.
